A streaming clip of the Daily Show from Hulu.com looked smooth, and colors were bright. Tilting the glossy screen back 45 degrees resulted in a slight glare; horizontal viewing angles were better. From afar, the inch-thick glossy black bezel (which was larger than we prefer) looked as if the screen was flush with the frame; up close, however, you could clearly make out the raAised frame.The 1005HA-P also features a brilliant Color-Shine glossy display normally found on high-end notebooks. With Color-Shine, your movies, games and photos are displayed in true and vibrant colors.

It features the N270 (1.6GHz 533FSB) cpu, glossy display, 3-Cell 23Wh Li-ion AL31-1005 Battery (4 hrs), and a 1.3MP webcam. Excluded are the Bluetooth module, 10GB online Eee storage, and netbook sleeve. This is obviously the "Basic" model. I was able to demo this unit at Best Buy on June 27th, and IMO you are giving up quite a bit for the ~$65 savings over the 'P' model. Not to mention as of now Asus will not sell you a spare 3 or 6-cell Li-Ion battery.
All three units come with the Digital Array Mic which consists of two powerful microphones. Ambient background noises are eliminated, as well as reduced echoes for clearer voice recording. What's more, with only direct sound (ASUS eee pc 1101ha laptop battery) recorded, better voice capture is ensured. I've tested it with Skype, and it's loud and clear once you fine tune the mic with the Realtek HD Audio manager. All models also include a WiFi 802.11 b/g/n adapter and 160GB 5400RPM hard drive. My 1005HA-P contains a Hitachi HTS543216L9SA00 hard drive and Atheros AR9285 wifi card. Atheros chipsets are known for excellent range and are typically less prone to connection drops.
The good news is that you can remove the memory door on the bottom of the chassis and swap it out for a 2GB DDR2 200-pin SODIMM in under 2 minutes. I installed the 800MHz module since it offers more headroom and will step down to a lower FSB if needed. The 667MHz module should clock past its rated speed, but if your module doesn't then it could lead to instability. I'd recommend running a Prime95 "Blend" torture test for 12-24 hrs to make sure your system is stable.
It lets users overclock or underclock their Eee PC's to boost performance or provide better AL32-1005 battery life depending on their immediate requirements. In Super Performance mode CPU-Z shows the bus speed to increase up to 169.9MHz which translates into roughly 1.7GHz. Woot! Woot One way to quickly change modes is to press Fn + spacebar.
The glossy LED display offers excellent color and contrast when used indoors. I was also pleasantly surprised with the excellent horizontal viewing angles. Keep in mind that once you get in a room full of light or step outdoors screen reflections could become annoying. I've used mine outside on a sunny day, and the screen is still very much legible. In fact it was much more detailed than the matte screen on my Dell D600.
I truly thought the 10.5 battery life was just a claim, but charged at %100 my battery life clocked in 10.5 hours just as promised! The touchpad feels great, the boot up was fast, keyboard feels comfortable, and the screen is good. The design is sleek and beautiful. Weighing only about 3 pounds, this won't destroy my back when I carry it around in my backpack. The asus eee pc battery life on this thing is truly incredible. The first day I got it I used it for at least 7 hours and Windows still said it had an hour and a half battery life left before I decided to charge it.
The only minor issue that I have with 1005HA is that it does not allow the screen to rotate further. The screen rotation angle is good enough for putting the netbook on desktop. But it started to show some limitation when I put on laptop, and worse when I used it while laying on couch or bed to watch video. I am not sure if other netbooks have a similar design limitation. Due to the size of netbooks and a wide screen format, the screen should have been designed to be able to rotate all the way back to inline with the keyboard. The extension will help to achieve a better viewing angle under different usage conditions.
I picked it up right away due to the acer UM09B31 battery life, keyboard and sleek design. I've had the computer now for almost a week, and it's been my new best friend. I actually went without charging it for more than a day because the acer um09a75 battery life is just so amazing. I keep the screen brightness set at about half and easily get more than eight hours with wi-fi on. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about as far as the screen brightness goes because my screen is far too bright at the higher end of the spectrum. I was initially worried about this purchase because of the bad rap that netbooks get for build quality issues, but this computer feels really solid for the price tag.
Honestly, if you're in the market for a netbook, I can't imagine why you would go with any other model. With such a great ACER as09d56 battery life, keyboard and responsive touch pad, there's really no other model that can hold a candle to this puppy.
The ASUS EEE PC 1005HA is completely easy to set up, and it readily detects wireless connections. The 10-inch screen is bright and has good color, and the keyboard is only slightly smaller than a regular one. I don't do well with touch pads, so I got a wireless mouse which works perfectly. Of course, there is no disc drive on the EEE PC 1005HA, but external ones are cheap and easy to hook up to one of.
1.3-megapixel webcam provided clear images in a Skype video chat. A friend saw little motion blur when we waved quickly and made out details on our face. The speakers, located at the bottom front edge of the system, allowed us to hear his voice loud and clear from across the room. Similarly, when we listened to Frightened Asus also includes its Super Hybrid Engine feature in the system, which is essentially a series of power-saving presets to further extend battery life. These are mostly power consumption tweaks one could perform individually, but it's handy to have them all in one place.
Asus covers its laptops with a standard, one-year parts-and-labor warranty, and it offers online Web-based help and a toll-free phone number. The company's support Web site has improved over the past few years, and includes easy to find driver downloads FAQs.
